Once the initial 500,000 new customer goal has been met, SIE might want to continue production to capture as much of the approximately 17.1 million console-playing, self-proclaiming gamer population as possible. Outside of that, it is recommended that SIE leverages the resources of parent corporation Sony to produce peripherals that can be used in conjunction with the PlayStation consoles. These peripherals can be marketed as highly recommended companion equipment designed specifically to be used optimally with a PlayStation console. This allows for the opportunity to drive further revenue from a portion the same population that console revenue is derived. Given the 500,000-customer goal—if a PlayStation-branded controller charging dock ($29), camera ($59), audio headset ($99), Virtual Reality (VR) headset ($299), and mid-sized 4K HDR gaming monitor ($529) were introduced to the market for sale, the potential revenue to be gained is outlined in the visualization below.
